Speaking on Monday night at a council meeting in which Road Service presented to councillors, Cllr Haughey said, "The Foley Road in Ballymacnab is in serious need for full resurfacing. This is an issue which I have been fighting for some time now. Residents are fed up of driving through terrible conditions several times a day.
“The road has been left in a terrible state from heavy duty lorries and other machinery used by the Forestry Service.
"Its disgraceful that a road can be left in such a terrible state and it must be a priority for Road Service to now upgrade this entire road and carry out a full resurfacing scheme.
"Many residents who live on this road have contacted me on numerous occasions about the poor state of the road. Just before Christmas I had road service officers out on site to raise these concerns. And I now hope that with this announcement of new funding for road resurfacing that the Foley Road will be made a top priority.”
Road Service officials agreed to re-assessing this road for resurfacing and upgrade.
