Cllr Sharon Haughey has served the people of Cusher for almost 10 years and hopes to continue her good work by getting elected to the new Super Election. She is renowned as a hard working representative who has delivered for the entire community. She had a notable year as Lord Mayor last year and even welcomed her former boss Hillary Clinton back to Ireland. And now the popular young councillor is now set to embark on an energetic and positive election campaign.
Speaking at her election launch, Cllr Sharon Haughey said, “It has been a great privilege for me to represent local people for almost 10 years. I greatly appreciated the strong support I have received over the years and I am asking the electoral to once again come out and give me their number 1 vote.
“People know my record, they know how I do business and I hope they will put their faith in me once again.
“The Super Council will see Armagh Council amalgamate with Banbridge and Craigavon Council meaning it will be a much larger council with fewer councillors being returned. The electoral areas are also changing and I’m delighted that the people of Granemore, Annvale, Rathmoyle, Caramoyle, Darkley and Richhill will now be able to vote for me, as will the people of native Cusher including Clady, Ballymacnab, Mullaghbrack, Markethill, Glenanne, Mountnorris, Tandragee and rural parts of Poyntzpass.
“I have proven to be a very positive representative and have been honoured to have been given the opportunity to make a difference to people’s lives for almost a decade. I want that work to continue into the new Super Councils and I ask people for their number 1 vote on 22nd May.”
Cllr Haughey gave birth just three months ago to her son Conor but is looking forward to combining motherhood with campaigning. She concluded; “There’s a lot of hard work during an election campaign and I’m very grateful to all those who are part of my campaign team. The SDLP team across the Armagh District is a strong, capable and youthful team and together we will continue to deliver for local communities. I look forward to meeting people at the doors and around the country roads over the coming weeks.”
