Cllr Haughey explains, "I have taken a huge amount of phone calls and emails over the last few days from residents who are without running water. This is causing havoc for families, most of which are all off for the Christmas holiday period.
"No water means residents can't wash their dishes, some can't use their heating systems, farmers are forced to put cattle out into the fields, people can't even wash themselves.
"I have reported all incidents directly through to Northern Ireland Water, but its a nightmare to get through on the phone lines and I believe we need better leadership from NIW and the Minister for DRD.
"Armagh City and District Council is once again showing tremendous leadership and good will by opening up all our facilities free-of-charge for residents. All amenties sites are open for people to get running drinking water. People are reminded that they need to bring their own containers. And our Leisure Centres are open for free showers for all those without running water.
"I continue to update my voicemail message so that constituents can hear the latest information as received."
"For people living in the Cusher area, Markethill Recycling Centre and Tandragee Leisure Centre are open providing running drinking water, while Tandragee Leisure Centre and the Orchard Leisure Centre are providing showers free of charge.
"I urge constituents to use these facilities during this water shortage emergency. I will continue to keep pressure on NIW and I know Armagh Council will continue to help all Armagh citizens in anyway that we can."
