Cllr Haughey said, “I have taken a number of phone calls from residents of Mullavilly over this wind turbine. Residents have reported a number of problems including: the ongoing noise from the turbine and the constant ‘shoosh’ effect, the turbine’s arms causing a flickering sensation for people with migraine problems and the unsightly nature of the turbine especially as it’s in the middle of a residential area.
“I have passed these concerns onto Planning Service when they came before Council on Monday last.
“People will be aware that I have always been a good supporter of renewable energy sources and I very much commend those who invest in renewable energy to power their own homes or their own businesses. However this case is different to most applications for wind turbines as the turbine is an industrial turbine in low-lying ground. I have never seen a turbine as big as this one. And the ongoing problems reported by residents need to be taken into account.
“Planning Service and Armagh City and District Council’ Environmental Health Department have agreed to deal with this problem and I hope they will take on board the concerns of residents in this residential community.”
