Speaking from the Palace Lord Mayor Haughey said, “I warmly welcome Minister David Ford on his official visit to Armagh City.
“This is the ideal opportunity to highlight the good work of Armagh City and District Council through the Armagh Policing and Community Safety Partnership and showcases the strong partnerships with external agencies such as NI Housing Executive, the local PSNI, Fire Service, Citizen Advice Bureau and local Health Trusts in delivering a strong community safety programme for our citizens.
“I am delighted that the Minister had the opportunity to meet with our Community Safety team led by John Doyle, Stephaine Rock and Patricia Gibson, who along with the Chair of the Armagh Policing and Community Safety Partnership, Councillor Sylvia McRoberts, Deputy Lord Mayor were able to showcase their work in helping create safer homes and safer communities. I believe the Armagh model could be replicated across other areas of the north and no doubt the Minister was given some ideas about rolling that out.”
