Cllr Haughey said, “During my canvass of Tandragee a number of residents have raised their concerns about dumping of general household waste at the back of the houses at Cornmarket Street. I visited the area myself to view the problem and I was disgusted to see that dumpers have shown a blatant disregard for local residents and the local area.
“I have raised this matter with Armagh City and District Council’s Environmental Health Department and have recommended that the Council cleans up the area as a matter of urgency. I have also asked the Council to replace the broken down fencing down towards Tandragee Recreational Centre.
“I plead with those who are responsible for the dumping to stop. There is no excuse for people to dump at the back of houses or in isolated spots as there is a full recycling centre operated by the council in Tandragee and is open for the entire community to use free-of-charge.”
