Cow Parade is the largest and most successful public art event in the world and since 1999, has been staged in 75 cities across the world. An estimated 100 million people have seen at least one exhibit and, through their sale at auctions afterwards, the cows have raised over £25 million for charities worldwide. More than 5,000 artists, professional and amateur, young and old, have taken part.
Lord Mayor Cllr Sharon Haughey said, "Armagh is privileged to host Cow Parade on the Mall as it means we’re part of a worldwide artistic phenomena which is raising vital funds for charities across the globe.
“The Mall is a very fitting location for the cows which have been painted by local artists to promote the Northern Ireland 2012 Our Time, Our Place campaign.
“Many children have enjoyed these mysterious looking plastic cows, as have people of all ages which has brought a bit of colour to our summer.”
