SDLP Councillor Sharon Haughey-Grimley has congratulated Madden GAA team on winning the 2013 Armagh Intermediate Championship and has requested a Lord Mayor's Recpetion to honour the club's success.
The Former Lord Mayor said, "I was exceptionally proud to be in the Athletic Grounds on Sunday to see Madden Raparees lift the Armagh Intermediate Championship Title. It was really a very special occasion for the whole Madden community as they've waited 19 years for Championship silverware.
"The skill, determination and passion of this young team saw Madden make a magnificent comeback in the second half to secure this historic victory.
"It's always a wonderful experience for a Club to win a County Championship and I hope that Madden will now add an Ulster Title to Sunday's brilliant achievement.
"I have asked Lord Mayor Robert Turner to host a reception to mark the Club's success."
Cllr Haughey-Grimley had a special interest in Sunday's game as her husband Gerard was playing on the winning team.
