Cllr Haughey-Grimley who Chairs Internal Scrutiny in Armagh Council brought a proposal to Armagh Council Committee for Council to enter into full lease agreement with Housing Executive for the land, to include the cost of the lease agreement. This marks a major milestone for the play park project which Cllr Haughey-Grimley has been leading on over last number of years.
Cllr Haughey-Grimley said, "The community of Clady came to me some time ago highlighting the need for a play facility for children and young people in Mourneview Park, and since then I have been working with Council Officials in negotiations with NI Housing Executive to secure the land for this important project. I have also brought this project through Council to secure planning application for the project.
"I gained full support from Armagh Council for the lease agreement and this will be should be ratified by the Council's Executive committee next week.
"This marks a major milestone in this project and as someone who grew up in Mourneview Park myself, I know only too well for the need of this community facility.
"The next challenge is to secure funding for the play facility and I will continue to work with Clady Community Association and Council Officials to secure the relevant funds so that the children of rural Clady can enjoy their own play space and facility."
