Cllr Haughey explains, “Cold Weather payments are a vital help to people in receipt of some income–related benefits during periods of exceptionally cold weather. Up until now cold temperatures were measured at five locations across the north of Ireland, none of which were based in County Armagh. So this is good news for the entire county as the results from Glenanne will be more representative of the temperature across the locality.”
Cold Weather payment is made automatically when the average temperature has been recorded as, or is forecast to be, 0ºC or below over seven consecutive days, at the weather station linked to the eligible claimant’s postcode.
