Cllr Haughey, who sits on the DARD Monitoring the Committee for the Rural Development Programme said, “The Rural Development Programme continues to provide excellent funding opportunities for farmers, rural businesses, community groups and rural organisations.
“There is still plenty of money in the pot for rural development and I urge people within the rural community to give consideration of this funding.
“There is a wide variety of measures opened at the minute including: Measure 3.1 : Diversification into non-agricultural activities, Measure 3.2 : Support for business creation and development, Measure 3.3 : Encouragement of tourism activities, Measure 3.4 : Basic services for the economy and rural population, Measure 3.5 : Village renewal and development, Measure 3.6 : Conservation and upgrading of rural heritage.
“These funds will help to improve rural areas and I urge people and groups from across County Armagh to make applications to secure funding either in this round or in later rounds.
“Anyone interested in finding out more about money that is available should log onto the SOAR website, which administers the fund to the Armagh area. The website address is: www.soarni.org .”
