SDLP Councillor Sharon Haughey-Grimley has expressed her deep shock and sadness at the tragic death of John Grugan in France.
Cllr Haughey said, "The entire Ballymacnab community are stunned by the very sad news of the tragic death of their club member John Grugan.
"John was well known across the GAA community as a former chairman of Ballymacnab Round Towers and his son Rory currently plays for Armagh County team.
"As we await further information of what has tragically unfolded in France, my thoughts and prayers are very much with the Grugan family at this tragically sad time. I hope they find some comfort knowing that the entire community share in their sadness and grief."

FUNDING Workshop: The SDLP are hosting a Funding Workshop aimed at Community, Sporting & Cultural Groups and Small Businesses on TUESDAY 23rd FEBRUARY 7-9pm in the Tommy Makem Arts & Community Centre, Keady. The workshop is open to all groups and will have a range of funders in attendance including Council, Big Lottery, Heritage Lottery, Rural Development and Peace. Representatives of Planning Service will also be in attendance for those groups who are planning capital projects. Everyone welcome!
"I’m absolutely delighted to hear of this further investment today in our borough,” comments Lord Mayor of Armagh City Banbridge and Craigavon, Councillor Darryn Causby, “Council has pledged to help and support the local economy as a priority and, as such, are actively working with local employers large and small to make sure that the area prospers. Announcements like this only serve to strengthen that position”.
The Lord Mayor was commenting on Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Investment Minister Jonathan Bell’s announcement of Moy Park’s £8million investment to implement a skills and development programme across the group over the next four years. “Moy Park employs over 6,000 people across its three processing facilities in Craigavon, Dungannon and Ballymena plants and is the second largest employer in the UK poultry sector”, comments Chair of Economic Development Committee Councillor Sharon Haughey Grimley, “this investment is very welcome news for the borough and enables Moy Park to offer a range of training and learning for the entire work force. It means that they can continue to compete on a truly international level”. |
