Lord Mayor Haughey commented “It is very fitting that my first official engagement is with the Citizens Advice Bureau, having outlined one of my key priorities of the year as securing social justice for all. The Citizens Advice Bureau has been providing services in the City since 1969 and has enjoyed the support of Armagh City and District Council for almost 40 years. It meets the information and advice needs of people across Northern Ireland and has established working relationships with Northern Ireland’s District Councils. Advice is provided on a huge range of issues by trained, specialist advisers across all communities and minority groupings, The advice given is Free at the point of use; Impartial; Confidential; and Independent. The Citizens Advice Bureau network is very finely tuned to the targeting of social need and, with its regional spread, modern integrated IT infrastructure and skilled staff, represents an efficient and cost effective arena for the delivery of information and advice to the most socially vulnerable people in our society. At a local level the Armagh bureau provides much needed services across our towns and villages.
Lord Mayor Haughey concluded by congratulating Manager, Mary McGinn and her members on a good years work
