Lord Mayor Haughey hosted a reception for the Charles Wood Summer School who celebrate their eighteenth anniversary.

This success of this school would not have been possible without the dedication and commitment from the volunteers of the committee.” Lord Mayor of Armagh City and District Cllr Sharon Haughey has commended the organising committee and MarkethillHorse & Pony Driving Club on Saturday’s Fair Day Festival. The Lord Mayor participated in the Fair Day, as she was carried by horse drawn carriage through Markethill Main Street accompanied by Deputy Mayor Sylvia McRoberts, Betty Stewart and Chairman of the Horse & Pony Driving Club Lord Mayor Haughey said, “It was a great day on Saturday as hundreds of people descended on Markethill for the annualHorse & Pony Driving Club Fair Day. Tribute must be paid to the organising committee and all the volunteers who helped on the day – it’s a huge undertaking organising a festival like this but I think everyone will agree with me that the organising committee done a great job. “The impressive horse and pony parade, tractor and machinery parade, the stalls and entertainments were all just brilliant and really brought joy to all in Markethill, young and old alike.” Lord Mayor of Armagh City and District Cllr Sharon Haughey has joined Galway hurler David Collins to officially start the 2012 5k Dam Busters Run/Walk at Seaghan Dam as part of the Feile Joe weekend. Speaking at Seaghan Dam Lord Mayor Haughey said, “I am delighted to officially start the 5k Dam Buster run/walk and it’s great to see so many people, of all ages, out to support this very worthy cause. “Feile Joe has now become an annual festival in Ballymacnab in the memory of the late Joe O’Toole and I commend the committee led by Joe’s wife Bronagh in organising another great weekend. The Dam Busters Run/Walk makes the most of the scenic Seaghan Dam and encourages local people, of all ages and all abilities to take part.” |
