Cllr Haughey said, “Once again residents have been in touch with me frustrated that an incomplete building site remains totally exposed in the Coolmillish Way Development in Markethill. This has been an ongoing problem for some time now and residents are rightly feeling angry that their facing another summer with this problem on their doorsteps.
“The main problem is the serious risk this site is for local children. The site comprises of incomplete foundations of additional dwellings. When it rains these foundations become totally emerged in rain water leaving a dangerous pool for days afterwards, which undoubtedly creates a real danger for children playing in the area. The area itself it dangerous for children even without the water.
“On top of this, the incomplete building site is an eye sore for residents who have paid highly for their houses in this area.
“It is completely unacceptable that a residential area should be left in this way. There is disagreement about which organisation should be responsible for making the site safe but I feel that argument has went on long enough. I want the site to be made safe as a matter of urgency and I have asked Armagh Council’s Environmental Health Department to take a lead in this.“I have also asked for clarification of the position of the developer and the future plans for the site.”
